"Hit and Miss"

About: Hereford County Hospital

I took myself to A&E after weeks at home with SOB that was increasing on exertion, on

Arrival I could not speak for some time whilst I caught my breath. I was taken to a bay and

Monitored for a couple of hours then sent home with the diagnosis of onset of mature asthma. I was given a dose of steroids to alleviate the symptoms.

The following day breathing ability was even worse, struggled to the GP surgery and asked for a

D Dimer test - to be phoned an hour later telling me the results were +ve and to go

Immediately to A&E. Eventually (hours later) I was diagnosed with

Bi lateral Pulmonary Odema and was admitted for 5 days and given oxygen therapy.

I was seen by 3 different cardiologists and told I would be on blood thinners for life.

I am mortified at the lack of interest shown in the assessment unit, and the misdiagnosis

By junior doctors.

My stay in the County was awful, The nursing staff could not speak

English and the attitude of them left a lot to be desired. The noise at night was appalling

With loud speech and laughter, and lights glaring most of the time.

I hope I never need

to return there again.

In their favour some of the nursing staff who could communicate

were first rate.
