"Impressed with care for Varicose vein surgery"

I rarely feel compelled to write reviews. But after my recent varicose vein surgery under the auspices of Mr  Valenti, Consultant Vascular Surgeon at Bupa Cromwell, I feel it would be a disservice to the medical professional, not to mention potential future patients, to let my experience go unnoticed.

Firstly, the before and after. My left leg: previously riddled with lumpy and painful varicose veins thanks to a maternal trait plus three big babies borne by a small frame, is now – only a week post-op – perfectly smooth and entirely pain-free. Mr Valenti is the master of his art.

And, secondly, the in-between. Bedside manner. It’s safe to say that consultants are prone to bad press on this front. However, I found Mr Valenti’s genuine care to be evident from pre to post op. And also, perhaps where it mattered most, on the day of the op. He sat close beside me on the hospital bed and, looking directly at me, explained everything and answered my questions. In other words, body language that spoke of care and assurance.

Bupa, take heed: whatever fee you have applied to Mr Valenti, it cannot be enough.
