"Operation Cancelled Twice"

About: University College Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

I broke my wrist on Monday morning and following a trip to A and E was told I needed a plate to set the fracture. The pain is unbelievable. I was refused pain killers despite asking twice.

I was sent home after 6 hours being told I would have my operation the following day and to expect a call at 8. 30 am in the morning. No call. I phoned in to ask what was happening and was told surgery was too busy but I was first on the list for Wednesday afternoon.

I arrived just after 11am and was told I was going up next, after sitting in tights, paper pants and a surgical gown until after 4pm. I was then sent home.

Tomorrow I have to be in at 7. 30 am. I have no one who can go in with me and I can't even dress myself.
