On this occasion, nothing!

What could be improved

Acknowlegement from the sister and nurses, communication between theatre and the nurses. Being spoken to by the nurses and informed what was happening (In 2 days, we waited about for 18hours)

Information given to be accurate (was told different thiings by different nurses which could have been dangerous)

When the nurses do talk to you, to be spoken to with respect.

Came in for an operation on 23rd Feb at 2.00pm, after waiting I was sent home at 7.00pm due to there being no beds. I returned at 8.00am the following day and was acknowledged at 10.00am. Was informed by a doctor that my operation was in the afternoon so I could have a glass of water then told by a nurse my operation was in the afternoon so not to drink at all. The sister who started at 3.30 that day was very rude when we questioned the waiting time. We asked questions on 3 occassions throughout the day and was forgotten about instead of receiving an answer. Then was made to feel like we couldn't ask questions and that we should know the answers.

Finally, I had my operation at 6.30pm and my partner and mum waited till 9.00pm till I returned from Theatre. In the morning, after being up from Theatre less that 12 hours I was told I could go home and was treated appaulingly. I informed the sister I didn't feel well and was very sore after the second part of my major facial sugery. She informed me i'd be fine. It was quite obvious I was being 'kicked out' because they needed my bed.
