"unfriendly staff + bad attitudes towards..."

About: Sunderland Royal Hospital

This is the 2nd time in a few months I have had the misfortune to have to visit someone on this ward. I hope I never have to again. Not just for my grandads illness but for the disgraceful staff. I have witnessed them being rude to patients and their family. I have seen a man clearly in pain being ignored to the point I had to alert nurses to his request for help. I had to do this twice before he was seen to. On my second attempt I was told "I will be there in a minute" in an abrupt rude manner. On one occasion we found my Grandad in someone else's dirty pyjamas! Hygiene! I think not. I worry when we are not Here as to what treatment (Or lack of) he is receiving. The bedside manner towards patients is really worrying. If this was business and not public service this ward would fail big style. I have had conversations with other visitors of a similar nature. Please Sunderland hospital investigate and review this ward. My Grandad has been on other wards and we can not speak highly of them, but ward E52 is really not good.

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback and we apologise that the care your grandfather received was not to the standard you, nor we, would expect.

It is important that we can look into this and the Matron for the Ward would welcome the opportunity to speak to you in order to get some additional information.

If you are willing, could you please contact Matron Gibson on 0191 565 6256 bleep 51384.
