About: Luton & Dunstable Hospital

(as a relative),

What I liked

The people, nurses. reception staff(always friendly).

What could be improved

Everything. The hospital building looks as if it has seen better days! The Eye Clinic Zone A is dingy, drab, a small waiting area, old chairs that need replacing. The corridors through to the consultants rooms are crowded with extra seating or patients waiting to be seen, you could not get a trolley through unless everyone stood up!. No privacy when seen by the consultant as they leave the doors open! .The Car Park across the road is dangerous and expensive, full of potholes & craters, after the recent bad weather, more has appeared than on Mars! The Car Park is small and when full, for anyone trying to get in for their appt, has to wait on the Main Lewsley Road till a car leaves before the barrier goes up and lets them in. Charges start from £2.50 for 5hrs, which is not bad but if you stay longer then it gets expensive.

Anything else?

Have an over haul of the Hospital, brighten things up, dont just give the Hospital bigwigs Bonuses! Have the small Car Park re-surfaced and parking bays more defined. Put in or provide overflow Car Parking away from the main Traffic Junction on Lewsley Road, and Pedestrian Traffic Lights, this will help ease the traffic flow around the Hospital and prevent hold ups for Ambulances that try to get out when on Blue's & Two's!! And it will prevent any accidents happening when people run across the road, and don't use the Pedestrian lights to cross as Traffic has ground to a halt because cars are queuing to go into the Car Park!

Other than these circumstances the Staff are brilliant!

The hospital has an ongoing re-decoration policy which is currently underway in several areas. Recent bad weather has taken its toll on roads everywhere - areas for which we are responsible have already been inspected and the process of repair is well in hand.

On car parking charges, we are comparable with many other simiar hospitals, averaging 50p per hour. We have 400 parkinig spaces - 50 of which are for Blue Badge holders and there are an additional two council-operated car parks in the vicinity.

We are pleased that you find our staff brilliant - they always endeavour to give a safe and caring service to our patients.
