Words cannot express my thanks to the person we met at the Renal Unit yesterday.
On Monday, during a routine renal appointment in outpatients, my husband was given the news that his kidney function had dropped to between 14 and 15% and they would like him to take me along with him to attend a meeting on Wednesday at the Renal Unit to discuss his future.
Even though we have known for years that his kidneys were deteriorating, it was still a shock and we were devastated.
We were met at the Renal Unit by a lovely person for a one to one chat.
They were so knowledgeable and talked to us for a couple of hours, explaining in detail every option that would be available to us and even took us round the Unit to let us see the different dialysis machines that would be available to my husband, both for home and in the unit.
When we left, to say we were relieved is an understatement.
They took away all our fears and I know it won't be pleasant having to have treatment but we will still be able to enjoy our lives together.
I never dreamed that a NHS hospital would offer such an excellent service and we are both truly grateful to this person on the Renal Unit.
their knowledge was outstanding and the way they delivered the information was wonderful.
Thank you so much.
