Today I attended oncology with my 90 year old Nanny.
The individulised care that she received was outstanding.
I was humbled by the empathy and caring nature of the receptionist in the radiotherapy department level 2. For example one patient who had been attending radiotherapy for a period of time was on his last day of treatment. The receptionist remembered his christian name, initiated conversation with him and was truly happy and elated for him that he had completed treatment. In my eyes they made him valued, indivudualistic and listened too. Their personable nature made him feel euphoric.
Too often staff are demoralised, critisised and not praised.
When you are going through this horrendously difficult time in your life as a patient everyone deserves to be made to feel that they are worthy and valued...we all need someone like this in our life!
"Remarkable staff"
