In short - horrific, dirty and uncaring.
3 days without seeing a doctor, 6 times being told my waters would be broken but "we're too short staffed" that's fine, just stop starting women off then if you can't handle them. I was actually told to calm my contractions down until they had more staff on in the morning, and if I didn't they would give me injections in my stomach to stop it!
We were left for days on the dirty holding pen that is the Greenwood Suite. This is where I was given the choice of a dirty bed with the previous woman's waters and blood over it but it had a pillow, or a clean'ish bed but no pillow. You can guess which one I chose, not to mention the dirty towels and sanitary wear underneath my bed.
Night time of day 3, we finally saw a Doctor and within minutes, they just hit the alarm and everything got very serious very quickly and an emergency C section was performed.
Beside the danger me and my daughter were put in, I was also nearly over dosed, given drug I'm allergic to, and then forgot to give me others.
I didn't get to stay in recovery as the Midwife that was supervising the trainee Midwife was finishing early, so we got shoved back up in the Greenwood Suite in a right state in front of everyone else.
There is lots and lots more to say, but in short ladies, stay away! Home, different county, middle of a field are all better options in my book. All of the calm, safe, supportive environment you are told to create and visualise on the NHS information/advice, it doesn't happen here!
The lack of care has lead to me returning to hospital and ongoing health problems, and most importantly my newborn being rushed back in too.
I trusted you LRI with the most important thing I can do as a woman and you let me down on so many levels, it's nearly unbelievable! It has affected me so much, I do not think our daughter will get a brother or sister because of this.
"horrific, dirty, uncaring"
