"disapppointed with lack of respect"

About: Medway Maritime Hospital

I visited the hospital today with my 80 year old mum who had an appoint with the ENT department. Mum walks with 2 sticks, has poor eyesight and is very breathless. The first problem we had was not being able to park, I therefore had no choice but to drop mum at the entrance and leave her to find her own way whilst I parked on the street. When I found mum waiting to be called I she was exhausted for the long walk to the dept. We were called in to see the consultant who turned out to be a registrar, thoug the doctor didn't introduce themselves properly to us. Their manner was offhand, the doctor insisted that mum sat I a swivel chair though it was obvious she would struggle with this. Mum was then taken to another room for an examination of her nose, but a no point was it explained to her what examination she was going to have. Once this was done we were taken back to the consulting room. However mum was not given time to even sit down (I had to get her chair for her) before the doctor started talking to her. I had to ask very firmly for the doctor to at least wait until mum had sat down and caught her breath again before carrying on with the consultation. Once finished we walked slowy back to the main entrance where I had to leave mum so I could collect the car from the side street, then drive back, park up as close as I could get to the main entrance, walk back in to the hospital to them help mum to the car. It was a very stressful experience for both of us.
