"If you didn't have a health issues before - you..."

Be warned: If you have any other option than to go to the Greenfields Centre – take it! This facility is an absolute waste of time. The staff are disorganised, irresponsible, demeaning and tardy (or they just don’t bother turning up when they are scheduled, at all). Getting fobbed off, being treated like a second class citizen, doctors prescribing unnecessary medication, doctors not reviewing medication at all for long periods of time (or ever), not providing any other support except medication, CPN not keeping scheduled appointments, psychiatrists having no interest in the opinion of a patient regarding their own treatment, nurse giving health/blood tests whilst recording wrong weight of patient with an eating disorder, phones not being answered, receptionists telling you they will call back but not doing so, staff stating that they will discuss you at the next meeting and then call you – which they do not, staff having no idea what they are talking about when you consequently phone them, having to repeat intensely difficult and personal information 12 times to various people including some of whom are not medically trained and the list goes on and on etc.

There really are no words to describe the ineptitude of this facility. I have been on the receiving end of this for over five years and am continually surprised at the atrocity of the service provided. One recent example would be the chronic inability of staff to get in contact with myself: after phoning 5 or more times over 2 months (also getting a family member to call) and each time being told that because computer screens were frozen, that they would ring me back (only for no one to call). Even though I specified that I was having to alter my own medication by myself, because my GP would not do it, as I was previously under the care of Greenfields and still apparently had a Greenfield psychiatrist overseeing me (my GP also contacted Greenfields twice over the same period but with no result still) which is rather laughable.

Of course it is perfectly possible (and likely) that the staff are permanently underpaid, overworked and understaffed – which has led to the current state of affairs - however this does not excuse the treatment which I and most likely, countless others have received over the last few years.

Please remember that we do not visit the Greenfields Centre because we enjoy it – we do it because we have long term and possibly incurable illnesses with which we are trying to cope with. Just because these illnesses happen to be mental – does not mean we deserve than any less (in terms of being provided with dignity and respect) than any other person. We are human too
