"A&E missed that his foot was broken"

About: Royal Blackburn Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a friend),

Took my friend to A&E as a result of him injuring his foot from a fall. The wait to begin with was 5 hours.

We spoke to a doctor who sent him for an X-ray. We took the results back to the doctors station and was waiting on results.

Another hour and half later, a doctor calls us through. She asks what happened and told us she wanted an X-ray. We told her that we had already had one so she said she didn't see it. Came back and said yes I missed it. Understandable due to the stress they are under. She examined his results from the X-ray and said nothing was wrong with it (this doctor also had no name badge on) we requested it was sent for a second opinion.

6 days later, receive a phone call...after a second look at the X-ray results, turns out his foot is broken and the doctor told him to walk on it and it will be fine. This has now aggravated his foot even more causing more pain, swelling, tenderness and inability to work thus losing money.

Returned to Blackburn A&E after being asked to come in for a pot to be put on. Another 6 hour wait. Asked the reception desk the name of the doctor and it turns out the doctor hadn't signed her name and somebody else had to sign for her instead. Absolutely disgusting.
