"Outrageous parking facilities"

About: The Maidstone Hospital

The parking for disabled visitors is outrageously bad. The website claims free parking is available for blue badge holders (http://www.nhs.uk/Services/Hospitals/MapsAndDirections/DefaultView.aspx?id=1070) but when I tried to exit the car park the "help" person insisted there was "no free parking for disabled visitors". When I told them it said so on the website, they virtually accused me of lying. I was exhausted after the very long walk to car park, so I refused to go back to the - very distant - payment point. Eventually the helper let me out, with very bad grace, claiming that if the website did state free parking was available it would have to be changed. All in all, a disgraceful situation.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review about your recent visit to Maidstone Hospital. We were sorry to hear about the problems you encountered with free parking. Unfortunately, the website you quoted is an external website not controlled by Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells Trust and it contains incorrect information. We have our own website, www.mtw.nhs.uk and would encourage patients visiting our hospitals to check there first regarding arrangements for parking and visiting in general. In the meantime, our Communications team will work towards correcting the information shown on the external site. Thank you once again for bringing this to our attention. With kind regards, the PALS team
