"7 months delay for gallbladder operation"

About: Dorking Hospital Outpatients Department East Surrey Hospital / General surgery

(as a relative),

My father was told 7 months ago, that he had a gallbladder polyp, and it was of the largest size that was considered safe, and it needed to come out ASAP.

Since then, nothing, despite him trying to chase up an appointment, trying to phone people who seem to know nothing about his case, repeatedly. We feel he has just been left.

It has caused him immense stress, as it has us. He has had his life on hold waiting to hear.

I feel that this is appalling, to put it politely.

Thank you for your feedback regarding the referral your father had regarding his Gallbladder Operation, we are very sorry that your father has had this experience. We work very hard to minimise the time between stages of treatment and we do not know of any patients who have had to wait anything like this length of time. We aim to be highly organised and address any issues specific to each individual patient.
