"The midwives that cared for me ..."

About: St Mary's Hospital (Manchester)

(as the patient),

What I liked

The midwives that cared for me whilst in labour were brilliant and I couldn't have wished for more. I had to have an emergency C Section and the speed in which the professionals acted makes me believe they saved my baby.

What could be improved

The post natal ward was awful. I was left in the corner of a ward with no natural light, my baby was left with me with no support, I could not lift my baby due to the operation. I did not see a nurse/midwife for anyhting up to 6 hours. I requested pain relief at 8am and repeatedly asked until I was finally given some at 4pm. I discharged myself the day after my C Section as I would be better cared for at home.

Anything else?

I would not want to put people off birthing at St Marys as my experience giving birth was the best it was the after care on post natal that ruined my experience.
