"outpatients brilliant,inpatients not so great"

About: Highbury Hospital

I have been going to highbury as an outpatient for some months and have found it brilliant great involvement with my nurse and partner and my consultant was simply fantastic, they knew what was going on in my head without me having to say it. I was admitted for a week for my own saftey and it changed my view. The wards are out dated, it was like prison. Cigarette breaks one every two hours and food was disgusting. I only ate when on leave which i was lucky to have daily. I was there for a week but when left was no better but as was not sectioned i decided to recover at home which was possibly too early due to my mental state but just couldnt handle being in the ward any longer. I have great respect for the crisis team and the consultants who work there but they are let down by the out dated wards.

Thank you for taking time to post your experiences of our services and I'm pleased you found your outpatient and crisis care a positive one. I'm sorry you didn't find your inpatient stay helpful and I'd like to hear more about your experience to help us identify what we can do to improve the ward experience. Our matrons have been working with the catering providers and will be happy to feedback your comments but more detailed information would be helpful. It is important to us that all of our services provide the highest quality care possible and a positive experience. Please contact me on 0115 969 1300 ext 12054 or jo.horsley@nottshc.nhs.uk or if you would like to discuss further.

Kind Regards

Jo
