I self-referred to the Whittington on the recommendation of a friend and am so very, very glad that I did!
I received amazing pre-natal and post-natal care at all stages of my pregnancy and birth. The teams are kind, knowledgeable and conscientious. I was always treated as a valued individual and with complete courtesy and respect.
The midwives at the birth centre and on the labour ward were tireless in helping me and my son learn to breastfeed. I don't think I could have managed to breastfeed without this assistance and would probably have ended up putting my son on formula, something I really did not want to have to do.
The staff at the Whittington really give the impression that they are there by vocation, not there just to do a 'job'. I was never made to feel like I was a 'pain' or that they couldn't be bothered to help me properly, which is how I have been made to feel at other London hospitals.
I really cannot recommend the Whittington maternity teams enough. I cannot fault the service or care I received. All of the midwives, doctors and staff went above and beyond the provision of their roles in my opinion.
I would not hesitate to self-refer to the Whittington again in future should I become pregnant again.
A huge thank you to all of the many staff who made my pregnancy and birth experience as calm, straight-forward and stress-free as it could possibly have been!
"Exceptional service from people who genuinely care"
