I was seen today by the allergy clinic after my GP diagnosed me with a wheat allergy and lactose intolerance. The staff were lovely and very helpful until I went to see the doctor. They didn't believe that my GP could diagnose me with a wheat allergy, and told me that they didn't deal with lactose intolerances, which I know is not true. The doctor was very condescending and made me feel angry and ignored! I have already logged a complaint and requested that I am seen by an actual food allergy specialist, not general allergy specialist!
I am going back for skin allergy tests, but I have been discharged with no help or dietary advice which is was I had hoped for. I am really struggling with my diet and loosing weight rapidly. But I never got the opportunity to explain all of my symptoms and problems I have. Totally disappointed by the way I have been treated, even though I have now been given an epi pen.
This was an urgent cancellation appointment, so it was clear I desperately needed help. But no help has been given. Very very disappointed! I didn't even get to say about my ketone levels in my urine I have, and the long list of wheat allergy symptoms, including oral thrush, hives, swollen mouth, swollen throat, nausea and sickness, IBS, and a whole lot more! Very disappointed and upset by my outing.
