"Great service, but let down at the end"

About: University Hospital Monklands

(as the patient),

MY son was admitted to monklands hospital for 1 week. The staff in ward 14 (Lorna & Gail) was absolutely fantastic. Couldn’t have asked for better care for my son.

However, when he was discharged, the porter treated him like a piece of meat. He put him in a trolley and then dumped him in front of the hospital. My son has difficulties walking and so do I, and yet he had to walk to the car on his own.

Such a shame, as our experience was so positive up until that point, but the way my son was made to feel is absolutely unacceptable!

Dear Owl985

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience of Monklands Hospital and I am very sorry that your positive experience was marred by staff actions in the last few minutes.

Within Monklands Hospital we work extremely hard to ensure all patients, visitors are treated with dignity and respect. I plan to share your Patient Opinion story with my Hotel Services colleagues so that they may use this as a training opportunity and to prevent this happening again.

Thank you for your kind comments regarding ward 14, I will be delighted to pass this on to SCN Mccarroll and the team.

I hope your son is feeling better after his stay in hospital.

Kind regards

Ruth
