"I was removed from the waiting list"

About: Princess Royal Hospital / Colorectal surgery

(as the patient),

I attended the Princess Royal Hospital for a colonoscopy. I was seen by a consultant in April 2009 following a haemhorrage from my bowel. Recommended a colonoscopy as I had proctitis for 20 years. Hoped to see me within 6 weeks. In July I rang central booking number at Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals to be told I had been removed from the waiting list! I was told I would be contacted as to why this had happened, no such luck! I rang again and as given an appointment in August 2009; 3 days before this was cancelled as no consultant. I was not given a replacement appointment at the time of cancellation. In the end it took a letter of disgust from my GP to finally 10 months later get me an appointment for the beginning of Feb 2010! I have to say my treatment and care until then had been good. It is the administration that needs sorting. I do not think that I am not the first to have this experience from Endoscopy department and Brighton. I have 3 members of family employed by the NHS and therefore know that GP's are concerned for their patients.
