"Treatment was 10/10"

About: Castle Hill Hospital / Breast surgery

(as the patient),

I attended Castle Hill Hospital for a right mastectomy. There were no worst bits about my care. I would not change anything but the car park, should have a high rise park for hospital staff. It's hard work to find space when you have an appointment mid day. At the beginning of January I had a pre-assessment, MRI, mastectomy. I was in hospital for four days, I had no pain, the treatment was 10/10. Room 10/10, cannot find any faults. Then radiotherapy in Feb 2009 for fifteen days not sat/sundays. All over in six weeks. Now check ups every three months and now I have them every 6 months. My consultant Mr Mahapatra 11/10, I cannot praise him enough, plus his team. I have had no pain from day 1 to a year later. Thank you NHS.

Dear Forward737 Many thanks for posting your comments on the Patient Opinion website. It is always a pleasure to receive such positive comments and we will ensure that our colleagues at Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals Trust make their staff aware of these. We have also passed on your suggestion around parking - this is one of the issues that patients, relatives and friends most frequently remark on when visiting the site, but we know that the Trust is working on this. NHS Hull is the organisation responsible for deciding how money is spent on local health services [also known as commissioning], ensuring those services are of high quality and meet local needs. We value all feedback and if you would like to discuss this matter further with us, please do not hesitate to contact our Patient Advice & Liaison Service on 01482 335409 or by email If you would like to become more involved in decisions about local healthcare, all local health Trusts are recruiting ‘members’. You don’t need any special skills or experience to become a member, you just need an interest in local health services. There is no commitment, you can get involved as little or as much as you choose. For more information please either email telephone 01482 675165. Thank you once again for taking the time to provide us with your views on local services.
