I am utterly disgusted by this hospital following a visit to urgent care today. The only redeeming feature were the two lovely and very understanding receptionists on the front desk.
I had taken my daughter who has fractured her arm, we were called into the triage nurse fairly quickly. What an utter vile person, they conducted the assessment with the door wide open, no sitting down, you stand in front of them like naughty children whilst they bark questions at you ( whilst we were there this was how all their assessments were conducted- I now know lots of personal information about other people). The nurse asked me why I had come to this hospital admits lots of huffing and eye rolling- why hadn't I taken her back to the previous urgent care centre I attended straight after my daughters accident, the nurse went on to say that I was trying to jump the fracture clinic queue and they probably wouldn't do anymore for my 8 year old than the previous hospital had. I explained to the nurse the reason I had returned was because she had a fracture and the arm was only in a sling and since Sunday she had been in lots of pain, to which the nurse replied 'it's a three and a half hour wait'.
When I left the room and began speaking to others waiting it seems I wasn't the only person treated in this manner. Forgive me but isn't nursing a caring profession? I wouldn't leave my animals with this nurse, I only wish I had taken their name at the time as I wouldn't hesitate in making a personal complaint about them. As a result I took my daughter home. I've only ever held the PHRu in high regard, when my eldest daughter seriously broke her arm and needed an operation the consultant and nurses were amazing. I will never willingly come near this hospital again. No wonder people are losing faith in the NHS.
"Disgusting!"
