"Thanks for your care and patience with me"

About: Royal Albert Edward Infirmary Royal Lancaster Infirmary / Accident and emergency Royal Preston Hospital

(as the patient),

In early April, I was cycling home from work then bang I was hit by car. I was taken by ambulance to Lancaster hospital then xrayed to be informed I had severely broken my pelvis and wrist and was to be transferred to Preston. After 10 days in Preston major trauma ward I was told they had finally got the surgical team for my major reconstruction of my hip joint and this was to be done in Wigan hospital. All the time I was in severe pain, could only be turned with extra pain relief. After my surgery I was still very scared but the Wigan nursing staff constantly tried to reassure me that I was fixed and the pain wouldn't be as intense, I found it hard to believe them. Until one morning a care assistant, Karen was on duty and she talked to me in a way that made me give things like turning a go and each day after this I became more and more independent. I can't thank Karen, nurses Amy and Louise, care assistant Carol to name but a few for your care and patience with me. Thank you Aspull Ward xxx

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. Whilst it relates largely to the care provided following your transfer to Wigan Hospital, I would, on behalf of Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, like to offer my best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Thank you for your kind comments in respect of Aspull Ward at Royal Albert Edward Infirmary, Wigan. I will ensure that these are passed to the Head of Nursing and the Matron for Specialist Services so that this posting can be shared with the staff on the ward.

May I also take this opportunity to extend our best wishes for your continued recovery.

Kind regards
