"Superb"

This year I’ve attended 2 appointments at the Sid Watkins Building and a 3rd appointment as a result of the first 2, for a day patient appointment on the Jefferson Ward ( 29th March 2016 )

I was there on each occasion to accompany a close family member who has Down’s Syndrome, severe learning difficulties and no verbal communication.

I’m aware that I must not mention names in this feedback, but I can say without a second’s hesitation that every single person with whom we had contact, Consultant, Consultant’s Secretary, Learning Disabilities Team Pre-Op Nurse, Anasthetists, Recovery Ward Staff and Jefferson Ward Staff was friendly, helpful and very, very good at their job, whilst being ultra caring, sensitive, respectful and mindful of the Patient’s comfort and dignity throughout.

Similarly, all Administration Staff, Receptionists, Security Staff, Cleaning Staff and Cafe Staff could not have been more helpful or approachable and contributed to us having such a positive experience at the hospital.

From the first appointment, the wonderful Consultant and hugely helpful, understanding Secretary, made sure that the general anaesthetic their patient was to have, would be used to resolve several health issues at the same time as the Patient will not cooperate in X Rays or blood tests in the way they are usually performed. This was a great relief to all the family.

I can’t speak highly enough of the care that has been given at the Walton Centre, it has been the finest and we’ve come away even more aware of how lucky we are to live in a country that has something as wonderful as the NHS. Health care for all, regardless of wealth or the levels of capacity to understand that medical intervention is necessary.
