"Extremely despondent!"

About: The Royal Victoria Infirmary

I have been attending the pain clinic for a number of years now, recently my conditions have became acute! I have degenerative disc disease bulging discs nerve impingement and fibromyalgia.

My last appointment was in January where I was suffering badly with my neck shoulder and unable to raise my left arm, my consultant arranged a referral for a scan, after many weeks of waiting I telephoned to find out nobody knew what happened to my referral or where it was, I was told to ring various depts. eventually it was found , I had my scan at north Tyneside hospital again after many follow up calls to was sent the report with no explanation no follow up no treatment plan nothing!

Again I tried to call to find out what was happening I was told by the secretary they would get the consultant to ring or write about have had nothing! I had to google words off the scan report to try and understand it! Needless to say I am so distressed and still in so much pain. Today I emailed PALS and I'm hoping for something to happen maybe a referral to a specialist who can help me. To say I'm upset with the pain clinic is an understatement!

Thank you for taking the time to post your review on NHS Choices. Firstly can we offer our sincerest apologies if any aspect of the service you received from the Pain Management Team has fallen short of your expectations. The Team of Nurses, Consultants and Administrations Support staff work extremely hard and are dedicated to offering the highest level of service to patient’s at all times and will be disappointed to hear of your experience.

It is difficult to address your concerns without further details however, as we have now received your concerns via the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) we will reply to you via the PALS Officer dealing with your case and work with them to try and meet your needs.
