"At times like this......"

About: George Eliot Hospital - Acute Services

Rest Assured, that if I am disattisfied with a service or product the company or establishment would clearly know about it. The media over the past few months (if not years) have been awash with coverage of NHS cuts, bed shortages, working hours and poor goverment funding. Quite clearly the NHS as was is no more, and in many cases the hospitals and staff face the brunt of this given they are at the coal face....

and my point is !

And whilst, my experiences of George Eliot Hospital at times have not allways been good ones, on this occasion, despite the circumstances the experience has been a good one and one that is worthy of praise where praise is due. My Father was admitted to George Eliot Hospital over 3 weeks ago, and despite an initial attempt to discharge him prematurely, following discussions with the medical staff this was a decision that was reversed. Since then our Dad was moved to Elizabeth Ward where the level of care, understanding and time spent with our Dad by the hospital staff has been overwhelming. To meet Doctors young and old who have treated Dad with empathy and care, who have taken the time on top of busy schedules to speak with family and explain the level of treatment and what the future might hold in such a dignified and respectful manner is a tribute to the staff at George Eliot. As demanding as patients can be, and equally for familiies who ask for little more than knowing that there loved ones are in capable and caring hands it would be an easy out for staff to simply dismiss or cut short the questions that are asked and the answers that are given. To all of the Doctors, Sisters, Nurses and support staff serving Elizabeth ward and more importantly for the time and care they have taken with my Father I would like to say one big massive Thank You. Car Parking Issues and Fees fall into insignificance when the most important thingsin life are dealt with in the right way...

Thank you for sharing your very positive experience of the care and treatment given to your Dad.

The comments you have made and your thanks have been shared with the ward team.

It will not be possible to reach all the staff without further detail but your thanks will be shared in a general way.

Kind regards

Christine Longstaff on behalf of the George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust
