"My Doctor Won't See Me"

Once upon a time there was a lovely health centre known as Major Oak. Then one day it was improved by installing a new booking system.

Ray tried for three days to make an appointment to see his Doctor but he didn't have any luck. He tried again today at 11.55a.m but the lady on the phone said "You can only make an appointment at 08.00a.m. and 12 noon, and only for that day."

Ray did as he was told and phoned five minutes later but found the phone line was busy. At 12.12p.m. the lady answered. "I'm sorry, we're fully booked,"she said.

Ray told her he was in great pain but the lady did not seem to hear him.

" You can make a fixed appointment, but not for seven days," she said and that was the end of the conversation.

Poor Ray had to drive all the way to another Health Authority in another town to find a 'drop in' centre who might want to help him. A nice lady there gave him an appointment and he was seen in half an hour and diagnosed with gout. Now he has some medicine that will make him feel better.

What a pity that the Major Oak Centre wouldn't help him.

Ray doesn't think it's so lovely any more.
