"Unhappy with behaviour at Moorfields Hospital"

About: Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

(as the patient),

After failing to move my care forward for 42 weeks and what I felt to be covert harvesting of personal data by what I can only assume to be a rogue staff member, I lodged a complaint.

Having lodged the complaint, Moorfields wrote to my GP no fewer than 5 times to inform them (why? ) that I had lodged a complaint against them. The letters also contained what I felt to be slanderous statements about me.

I made a second complaint and a slightly amended letter was then sent - but the damage has been done.

This matter has distressed me deeply, out of all my negative nhs experiences, it surely ranks as one of the worst.

The hospital has (in a clumsy way) dealt with my complaint about the false statements to my GP, but simply ignored the elephant in the room, ie the covert harvesting of data. Given the numerous NHS scandals around mismanagement of patient data, one would have hoped they might adopt a professional approach.

It really is a very odd way to deal with a sensitive matter, ie ignore it and see if it goes away.

Dear Waaheid,

Thank you for taking the time to comment. If a patient makes a formal complaint we would never share that inforamtion with a GP or other third party without the express permission of the patient. You do appear to have some specific concerns that we would be happy to help you resolve, but we would need further information from you. If you would like us to pursue them, please contact the Moorfields Patient Advice and Liason Service (PALS) - on 0207 566 2324/2325 or pals@moorfields.nhs.uk, who will be happy to help you.

Well in this case you did and I have the documentation to prove it.
