After suffering a Heart Attack in February 2015 for which I received excellent care at Gloucester Royal Hospital I was referred to the Cardiac Rehab team.
In April 2015 I attended my first group session for which I was very nervous about as didn't know what to expect.
Over the weeks ahead I was made to feel very welcome with the excellent empathy shown by the staff, Kate & Phillipa were 2 of a great bunch of staff there.
With it being a rolling program there were always new faces joining each week which in my view gave it a more relaxed feel which was a good thing.
The topics covered were excellent and opened my eyes to a lot of things, particularly where different types of food and fats that we consume and how little activity is needed to increase blood flow and decrease chances of an event happening in future.
The exercise was at a level that I and the group could deal with without exerting too much pressure on our hearts, which was my biggest worry before going to the group.
At the end of the course I informed Kate & Phillipa that my intention was to run a Half Marathon within 2 years and am delighted to say I am entered into the Cheltenham Half Marathon in 2016 which is purely down to the staff giving me that belief that I could make a change and that it wasn't too late.
The Cardiac Rehab Group in Stonehouse has changed my life for good and I couldn't thank them enough.
