"9 months waiting time for orthopaedics appointment"

About: Lawson Memorial Hospital / Trauma & orthopaedics

(as a relative),

My Dad was diagnosed as having arthritis in his hip last July. He were told that he had been referred to Orthopaedics outpatients clinic (at Lawson Memorial in Golspie). We have waited 9 months (9 months for emphasis) for his initial orthopaedic consultation to come through - which came through yesterday. Meantime he has been in increasing levels of pain with little pain relief. My Dad served as a GP in the NHS for his entire career and was dedicated, committed and relentless sin his pursuit of patient care - so it is truly disappointing that he has had such a terribly long and painful wait to be treated himself. Who knows how long he will have to wait for hip replacement surgery.

Dear KennedyKaw

Your posting was missed by me and I can only apologise for the delay in getting back to you. We have been experiencing delays in orthopaedics but are working hard to address the delays. I appreciate this is of little comfort to you as it must be so hard to watch on when your dad is in pain.

if you would like to get in touch with me I will find out if a date has been set for your dads surgery.

You can call me on 01463 704722 or email me to maimie.thompson@nhs.net

Once again I do apologise and I am grateful for you getting in touch

Thanks

Maimie
