Well where do I start to review such an experience. I was admitted to have a total knee replacement and the care from every member of the team on ward 3 was just exceptional.
From admission, then to theatre, the recovery room where the nurse made me a cup of tea! The porters and housekeeping staff, all made a huge contribution to my comfort and wellbeing. The Physio and Occupational therapist, excellent in their approach and care. The nurse practitioners who really were up to speed with the care plan and medications, all the nursing staff were so professional and prompt to come to offer help.
The nurse who was on nights the 2 nights I was there helped me when I was feeling particularly rotten one of the nights and sorted me out apparently effortlessly.
The chaplain and the trolly staff bringing the papers.
The meals were very good and hot. I could go on.
But the main thing I am so grateful for is that the pain was controlled so well.
I had the other knee replaced 18 months ago at a different hospital and although I am sure things have moved on, the fact that the nurses were on top of the pain all the time gave me such confidence to get on and get about.
I am now a week post op and have had a call from Ward 3 and more reassurance.
Pain is still well controlled and I am much more active than I expected to be. I congratulate you on the fantastic care.
Thank you all so much.
