My elderly difficult relative was treated with skill and much consideration when she was admitted anaemic and in urinary retention. She was assessed with much patience and when she refused treatment the staff were most considerate and were happy to accept my help in explaining her best interests and gaining consent (urinary catheter and 2 unit blood transfsion before discharge at about 48 hours)
