"Ward 24"

About: Arrowe Park Hospital

My mother recently spent two weeks in ward 24. She had kidney problems but was treated as though she had dementia and was incapable. She liked the consultant but the nursing staff were awful. She felt she had no privacy and when she went to the toilet to get washed, a nurse would open the locked door and watch her, despite her asking them to leave. Other nurses were rude and sarcastic with her. What has happened to compassion on these wards? We would never let her be admitted to care of the elderly wards again, she should have been on a general medical ward despite her age. This experience has scarred her. There should be an overhaul of 'care' given to the elderly, it's a disgrace.
