"NHS Lanarkshire AAA Screening programme"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / General Surgery (Ward 5)

(as the patient),

Just to say I was very impressed with the way this was handled. I (over 65, male) was contacted by letter and invited for a screening for Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm at Hairmyres Hospital. I knew nothing about AAA but the leaflet which was enclosed was very helpful.

Anyway I turned up at the hospital, was taken on time and the person who did the screening was really pleasant and informative. She told me exactly what she was doing, showed me the scans, and gave me the result (normal) straight away. Today I've just received a letter confirming the result.

A very good and positive experience, and thanks to the 'screener' who made me feel I was the only patient she was seeing that day!

Dear Teel

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience of the AAA screening program. Your positive comments are very welcome and I will ensure that they are fed back to the appointment and screening staff. I am sure the AAA team will be very pleased to receive your feedback.
