"Referred to Social Services whilst trying to get help."

About: Bromley Healthcare / Talk together Bromley (IAPT)

(as a service user),

I had talking therapy with Bromley Working for Wellbeing as advertised in local library stating it could help with being in work and stressed etc.

I was feeling really low and have suffered depression before and engaged in this. I spoke to someone who referred me to Social Services without telling me so this came as a complete shock when a Social Worker turned up at the door while I was at work and was shouting at my children asking to speak to me from outside my property as they looked out of the window. She then asked to speak to my child's dad - he left me whilst pregnant. This was terribly traumatic. Even worse is that the talking counsellor cancelled our appointment and referred me to Stepping Stones as my problems were apparently too severe for Bromley Working for Wellbeing. Stepping Stones told me I did not fit their criteria at all. The talking counsellor also informed Social Services that she had spoken to my family GP and that the GP had said I was "alcohol dependent and suffering serious thought disorder". My GP did not say that. I want to know why I am not allowed to see this report as because of a result of this my family was traumatised and had to endure social workers visiting my home with my teenager there.

Update posted by kieran90 (a service user)

Thank you for your response but as you know this case has been ongoing for 2 years now and at every turn I have found Bromley Healthcare obstructive and unhelpful. The therapist involved according to London Borough of Bromley refused permission for her report to be disclosed to me which is shocking as it concerns me and my family. Permission was also refused to the Local Government Ombudsman to release the report to me by Bromley Healthcare. I have been advised that the report contains serious allegations about me that are false. Apparently the information came from my GP in April 2014 which is impossible (the practice manager at the surgery has confirmed in writing that no information was disclosed regarding any medical conditions) and that is why this is so shocking as I would have thought you would want to resolve the situation and be open with disclosure so the matter can be closed.

I turned to Bromley Healthcare for help and received the exact opposite. However thank you for taking the matter seriously now. This is an ongoing stressful situation but I want closure and my name to be cleared on all official documentation. I have received full apologies from the LBB and notes have been placed on record regarding the report. I hope you will help to resolve my complaint and my utter confusion with regard to the report which resulted in being investigated by Social Services.

Thank you.
