"Ludicrous"

About: Moorfields Eye Hospital (City Road Campus)

Attended VRE clinic after being advised I had a detached retina.

Nurses spent their time giggling and chatting anongst themselves. Seemed mor concerned with conducting their social lives and soliciting for reviews than attending to patients.

Was told I would be operated on on that day. Was on the ward, having been prepared for surgery, and was due down in 30 minutes. Got bumped off the list and told I may be called at some point in the next two weeks by a Dr.

Though the ward nurses were great, as was the initial surgeon who went through things with me, I was deeply unimpressed by the nurses on VRE and the Dr who was arrogant and patronising to me.

Thank you for taking the time to comment and for the positive words you had for the ward staff and initial doctor who saw you. I am sorry that you had a poorer experience in the VRE and that the nurses and doctor came across as less professional than they should have. I have passed your comment on the Surgical Services Matron. It also appears that you were not adequately informed as to the management of your treatment. How conditions in the VRE are managed can be quite complicated and it should have been explained fully and established that you were happy with that explanation before you left the department and I can only apologise if this was not the case. We would be happy to explore the specific aspects of your visit and if you would like us to do so please contact our PALS team on 020 7566 2324 or 2325 or email at PALS@moorfields.nhs.uk
