"Breast feeding facilities in children's A and E"

About: Royal Derby Hospital / Paediatrics

(as a parent/guardian),

A few years ago when my son was a baby I attended children's a and e with him.

I needed to breast feed him so I asked a nurse at the desk if there was a room I could feed him in as it was busy and I wanted privacy. She told me I would have to use the baby changing room. This was a small room with a plastic rigid chair. It was already occupied by a man changing his child and it smelt unpleasant. I had no choice but to feed him there and it was not a pleasant experience. The Intu shopping centre provide breast feeding cubicles with comfy chairs for mothers. An nhs hospital that is supposed to promote and encourage breast feeding does not. I think there is some thing wrong there
