I spent 3 months on Cedar Unit last year my time there did not help me to overcome my anorexia. I may have gained weight but not enough was done to address the fact that this is a mental disorder. I found my Consultant abrupt and disinterested in me and the ward manager treated me with sheer contempt. As patients we witnessed arguments between staff many of whom made it clear that they had no respect for the ward manager. There is no team work amongst the staff.
There were some positives as there are some wonderfully caring staff, unfortunately they can not make up for the incompetence of the senior staff in particular the ward Doctor who made my life a living hell on a daily basis.
The food is generally ok, but cross the dietician at your peril. They are incredibly abrasive and often downright rude.
You do get access in time, but I was often left disappointed as they had forgotten to allocate staff to accompany me.
This hospital has potential it is a shame that the lack of staff cohesion and communication does not enable patients to make the most of their stay.
