"Reeplacement Knee operation"

About: Shepton Mallet NHS Treatment Centre

After two arthroscopies on my knee, several years apart, my knee was not healing and so a complete knee replacement was recommended. I am very satisfied with the treatment and explanations from my consultant.

Three months on I am not yet walking evenly but hope to, given time.

I went to the Yeatman Hospital for Physiotherapy, 7 weeks after the operation and attended 7 times. The staff there have been extremely helpful and encouraging. I now aim to join a local Sports Centre and take part in the remedial exercises there.

I experienced far more pain than I expected but at all times the medical staff made sure I had plenty of pain killers. I gave up the morphine after three and a half weeks and a few weeks later did not need pain killers. I took the occasional paracetamol.

The treatment I received at the Centre was first class and I look forward to walking much better in future.

All appointments were kept to time, though there were some very early starts.

I have no hesitation in recommending the Treatment Centre to others considered medically fit other than their complaint.
