"Exceptional Experience at Children's Emergency..."

About: Medway Maritime Hospital

I wanted to give this review of the exceptionally pleasant experience myself and my family had when we had to take our little 2year old to children's A&E on the 28th of March 2016(bank holiday Monday).

Waiting time was fair enough and I guess that's to be expected so couldn't fault that.

However more than anything else, I wanted to commend the outstanding level of care, dignity and respect the nurses and doctor who attended to my little girl gave us.

They were patient, kind showed no sign of being under pressure even though it was obvious that there were still tons of others to be seen! They definitely demonstrated the empathy expected of people in the medical profession.

I want to also specially thank the doctor who was able to provide a more than clear explanation of our little one's sudden skin condition (relating to an allergy / infection) and was very reassuring and certainly did give us some ease of mind as myself, my husband and even my 5 year old daughter was extremely worried for our little one.

The doctor also ensured we perfectly understood the medication to be prescribed and even gave us a brief demonstration of how to administer to our little one when we got home as you would agree kids are not the easiest to get to take their medication. During all of this, the nurse who had attended to us kept reassuring us that she'd be fine and was also on hand to ensure all of our questions were answered and that we had no concerns whatsoever .

I have to admit that this is the very first time in my history of using the NHS and especially A&E that we have ever experienced anything like this. I do recall that only a week before I had been to the adult A&E and the experience was marred by an unprofessional act of the doctor I had seen so it was reassuring to experience such level of care, competence and compassion by the nurses and Doctor we saw in the kids A&E.

I do feel awful as I am so bad with names but I do believe that I have provided sufficient enough information to enable them receive our immense show of gratitude for the absolutely outstanding level of care our daughter received .

I am pleased to say our little one is also doing well and we would not forget in a hurry this wonderful experience.

Thank you.
