About: Good Hope Hospital

I found pain management at Good Hope Hospital to be very poor. I suffer from pains so bad that I cannot work nor study and yet after pain management assesments, I was given no medical treatment and no further referrals. As a result I have no money, very limited mobility to the point I can not leave the house alone and very little self-confidence.

The Pain management team are very upset to hear that you have had poor experiences with having your pain adequately controlled at the Heart of England Foundation Trust . The Pain team endeavour to provide education to staff throughout the Trust in order that they are equipped to effectively manage patients pain and we also provide specialist input for patients receiving interventions to control their pain e.g. Patient Controlled Analgesia (PCA's) or Epidurals.

We would like to express our regret that your pain wasn't well managed at Good Hope Hospital. Pain can be complex in its assessment and management, and effective treatment often requires the input of various specialists and therefore this may be best achieved within an outpatient setting. We would therefore like to would suggest that if your pain continues to be a problem you should ask your GP to refer you to a chronic Pain Clinic at the Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust.
