My mother was admitted to Sproughton ward after a day of hell in A&E on the busiest day of the year. After loosing her Do nor resuscitate form between A&E and the ward which meant we had to leave mum for the rest of the night with the chance she would be resuscitated when she did not want to be. The following morning we returned to find DNR form completed and the staff and doctors where amazing. Mum had been poorly since the end of last year. She decided she wanted to not be treated any more. Along came Dr Alsawaf who was amazing. We all discussed the options. It was agreed that she stopped all medication and she was put on end of life care. We took her home the following day with all the equipment and support we needed.. She died peacefully with her family around her 5 days later. A sad day for us but a happy release. We all had time to say what we needed to say to each other. Thank you Dr Alsawaf you were amazing.
