"One of the nurses was really freindly ..."

About: Darlington Memorial Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

One of the nurses was really freindly and he gave a happy atmosphere to such a depressing place.

What could be improved

Bar one of the nurses all of the staff need to learn a thing or two in communicatioin skills. A really ill women next to me was shouted at by a nurse, not long after the women was sick because they kept feeding her drugs on a empty stomach. I was basically ignored the whole time, i had been sent from bishop hospital to darlington for an overnight stay to have an MRI scan which DID NOT happen, with no explanation as to why. I wasnt even told the results of all of the tests that i had had and went home feeling worse then i was when i had arrived (the room was far too hot and was making me feel ill.) Also when i was wanting to go home i had to wait 3 hours for the consultants to say it was okay for me to go and they had no idea what was wrong with me anyway.

Anything else?

I think its so sad that Bishop Hospital has such little facilities as it is such a good place, and unlike the staff at Darlington, they actually keep you up to date with what is happening, and oviously show great care in their patients

Thank you for taking the time to share your comments, I am sorry to hear that you felt let down by your experience at Darlington Memorial Hospital. I will feedback your comments to the appropriate teams and we will look at areas for improvements. I would ask that you contact the hospital's Patient Advice and Liaison Service on 01325 743887 so that we are able to discuss your comments in more detail.

In October 2009, the Trust made changes to the way services are delivered and Bishop Auckland Hospital took on a new role as a centre for planned care. The hospital is now busier than ever with services including a new specialist centre for rehabilitation and recovery, new a cataract and eye care unit and a 24 hour urgent care centre.
