"Out of hours medication"

About: University Hospital Aintree

Attended urgent care on Saturday night after being assessed by a paramedic. Firstly I would like to state that the paramedic was wonderful as was the doctor. My complaint isn't regarding who treated me or how I was treated but the facilities or lack thereof for out of hours medication.

I was prescribed a course on antibiotics for a nasty chest infection. My appointment was at 9.15pm and I was seen late (although this is not a problem in the slightest, it was a busy Saturday night and I expected to wait and was actually seen quicker than I had anticipated) so when I obtained my prescription Iit was gone 10pm.

I was told I could not pick my medication up from the pharmacy on site and had to find another pharmacy. Reception informed me that they would normally send people to the pharmacy in ASDA but was it was gone 10pm on Saturday night it would be closed and I would just have to wait until tomorrow.

I later found out, around 10:50pm that the pharmacy on London Road was open until 11:00pm and had I headed straight there from the hospital I would have made it in time.

I woke up the next morning feeling worse, and it will inevitably take me longer to recuperate due to delayed medication.

I attended urgent care on the Saturday night because I felt I required treatment on Saturday night... not on Sunday morning.
