"bowel screening procedure"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Endoscopy and day care

(as the patient),

I was called for a colonoscopy procedure on last week at 3.30 pm and found the whole experience quite traumatic. Having been through this procedure 2yrs or so before I was not at all apprehensive to return. Unfortunately this will not be the case for the future. I was very aware of all that was going and found the whole procedure uncomfortable and sore and would certainly not be happy to return unless I was given absolute assurance this would not happen again. My first experience was much more pleasant hence the reason for returning quite happily.

What could be improved?  More information beforehand regarding anaesthetic.

Hi Shanny, We are really sorry that you found your experience traumatic. There are many factors that can effect comfort levels. At present I am trying to look into this to find out what could have been the cause for your experience. Unfortunately I cant find what list you were on and would appreciate if you could send me your details to my email address sandramorrow@nhs.net for confidentiality reasons in order that I can look into this further. We strive to make each procedure as comfortable as possible and it is helpful to know where this can be improved. Once again I can only apologise for your experience.

Best regards

Sandra Morrow
