"A short stay in A and E"

About: Torbay Hospital

On Tuesday my mother was taken by ambulance into A and E. By the time I had arrived she had already been seen by a senior nurse and had blood tests and an ECG. She was with a doctor who was very happy to take time and allow my mother to answer the questions the doctor had asked her -my mother had a stroke and so her speech is slow but clear. Mum was also then seen by an agency nursing assistant and then finally a senior doctor. The doctor was also prepared to take time and listen and at all times my mother was treated with dignity and patience. I have already recommended the hospital to colleagues as I couldn't fault the care she was given.

The only issue I had was parking at 10.15 in the morning there were no spaces in any car park or the overflow car parks. I eventually found space in a pub car park. It is very concerning that visitors visiting family in A and E are not able to park, luckily my mother was not seriously ill, but if she had been I may not have been with her for her final few minutes.. Are there any plans to build a multi storey car park at the hospital?

Dear Enquirer

Thank you for taking the time to comment.

It is always good to receive feedback; we try to ensure we share examples of good practice and also that we learn from any negative experiences.

Kind regards
