"Queen Elizabeth Hospital failed us"

About: Queen Elizabeth Hospital (London)

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital is a failure.

The Accident and Emergency department is beyond crisis.

The frontline staff are contemptous, aggressive and hate their jobs.

Your hospital systematically failed to provide timely treatment to my wife on a life threatening condition.

Instead, your triage nurses were more interested in chatting about their holidays, hair and finishing their shifts.

Even when presented with the evidence, your triage nurses failed to diagnose a blatant DVT which meant that my wife was pushed to a back corridor, left in a dirty, empty, physiotherapy department where there were no staff.

When I tried to raise staff, one told us to sit and wait and then locked their room never to be seen again.

When asking for help from your receptionist, they had bad attitude with us and tried to call security, when my wife was

Rolling on the floor in front of them, calling out in agony that her leg felt like it was going to burst and was twice the size of its normal condition

All I have received from your staff and the CEO himself is contempt.

Even your own PALS tried to avoid dealing with this, instead stating that 'urgent' care is nothing to do with them and they're not interested.

The 'urgent' care, is an out of hours doctors service (grabbadoc), not a hospital. If we wanted to speak to a doctor, we would visit our local GP, or call NHS Direct. When we need Accident & Emergency services, we attend an Accident & Emergency Department.

When we needed it, you failed us !!

Thank you for your feedback regarding your experience at our Accident and Emergency Service. It is our aim to provide the highest level of service and I am disappointed to learn that both you and your wife’s experience did not reflect this. All feedback is extremely important to us as it gives us an opportunity to improve our service.
