"GP Practice closure"

About: Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire

(as the patient),

Our GP Practice in Underwood, Nottinghamshire is set to close in the next few weeks. A consultation period is currently in place to decide the future of the practice and what will happen to the older people in the village. Consultation is all about talking and discussing the issues with the patients. However, although we are being told that no decision on closure has been taken, as apparently we are in a consultation period, the practice have informed patients on their prescriptions that the practice is closing down.

How can a practice in consultation inform patients that the practice is closing, surely if we are in a consultation period then no decision to close should have been taken?

The residents of Underwood are very, very angry about the way this whole process has been managed. We weren't even informed officially about the closure, just via local flyers around the village.

This is totally unacceptable, you cannot treat the elderly people of the village in this way and thing you can get away with it.
