"Patient transport"

About: Scottish Ambulance Service / Patient Transport Service

(as the patient),

I've found the service since Jan 2016 to be shambolic. On one occasion on a Saturday morning there was 2drivers for renal patients and the receptionist had to phone all the patients that used patient transport and ask if they could get themselves in or they would not be picked up the to nearer nine instead of six thirty, the reason was that drivers were on holiday as they have to use all annual leave by end of March.

In any other area when someone is off another person covers them well not  in SPT, it seems like they just let patients sit about for one and a half hours waiting to go home after being hooked up to a machine for 4 hours. In my opinion, patients do not come first with this service.

This has nothing to do with the drivers as cannot do enough for patients.

Dear Invisible Patient,

I was very sorry to hear that you have been having problems with your renal transport.

Staff taking leave shouldn't have an impact on what we do and I don't understand why you were told this was the cause of your problems.

Please may I ask you to contact me on 0141 810 6101 so that I can look in to this for you. I want to ensure that your transport arrangements in the future are all planned as we would expect and also to tell you why you had problems.

Regards,

Pat
