Today I attended my pre operation assessment at the cardiology dept, I was seen my a nurse called Nicola, she explained everything in clear detail, showed me examples on the computer and also drew examples of heart/valves etc and explained the whole procedure, pre op advice and after op advice and I was so very grateful, I have seen 3 consultants so far and this nurse told me more about my condition, and how it would affect me in the short and long term, in one meeting than anybody has told me in the previous 6 months of meetings combined.

I left the appointment with a clear idea of my illness, how it will be treated etc and her patient care is amazing, some people say nurses are angels, well it certainly describes this nurse, I cannot find the words to praise her enough.

Thank you Nicola, she was a nurse in the cardiology dept at Hairmyres and is a few months pregnant incase there is more than one Nicola as I didn't catch her surname. Please pass on my thanks.

What could be improved? You can't improve on perfection!

thank you so much for taking the time to post and to give such positive feedback on your outpatient appointment and in particular the care, advice and attention you recieved from Nicola. It is so important that patients understand their condition and how it may affect them in the future and I am so pleased to hear that Nicola was informative and explained everything clearly.

Hi, no problem at all, the praise is justified, she was very helpful, very friendly, and explained everything in detail, asked if I had any questions, answered all my concerns, told me what to expect before, during and after the operation, and recovery period, how it would affect my job as a bus driver etc, and I honestly cannot praise her enough.

There was an admin problem about my appointment time and I arrived when she should have been going for lunch but even with her belly rumbling she still made time to ensure her patient received her full attention.

She really does deserve praise, and I am grateful for this site where staff can be highlighted for doing a great job.
